How to Test Publfish

Explore how the system handles article types, section structures, layout previews, and AI-powered text balancing in this step-by-step guide.

You start with a fixed test edition

To help you understand how Publfish works, we provide you with a predefined sample edition.

It has a fixed number of pages (for example, 12 pages). Some areas are fixed – such as ads or permanent elements. The remaining areas are open and ready to receive your articles.

This fixed edition is only for testing and demonstration, so you can see exactly how Publfish behaves before you customise anything.

Input: You send articles in

Publfish works with real newsroom article types.

You can send: Lead Stories, Standard Articles, News Briefs, Sidebar Items and Standalone Image Stories.

Each article contains at least one image and follows a typical character range. These types form the input for the test edition.

Lead Story

3,900–6,500 characters

Standard Article

2,800–3,400 characters

News Brief

1,000–2,000 characters

Sidebar Item

500–1,300 characters

Standalone Image Story

500–2,000 characters

AI Balancing Engine

If your article is too short or too long for the available space, the AI assistant adapts the length while keeping meaning and tone.

It shortens overly long articles or adds reasonable detail if a piece is slightly too short. You don’t need to hit the perfect character count yourself – Publfish helps the text fit the layout.

Processing: Publfish places your articles into the open spaces

Each section of the test edition already knows how many articles it expects and which mix of article types belongs there.

When you send your content, Publfish uses the article type and the character range to decide where each article should go.

You don’t design the pages yourself – Publfish fills the layout automatically.

Output: This is how the test edition looks after Publfish processes your articles

Once your articles have been processed and placed, Publfish generates a complete test edition.

You can see how your content appears as finished print pages, without manual page design.

With the API, you can configure everything yourself later

The fixed test edition is only a sandbox to help you understand the workflow.

Once you use the Publfish API, you are free to define your own number of pages, sections, formats, article mixes and layout rules.

The test environment simply shows what the engine can do with real content.
